Hi, I’m Louise…
A professional and experienced independent celebrant who just loves creating beautiful, personalised ceremonies that are all about you. I’m based in Four Oak, Sutton Coldfield and most frequent conduct ceremonies in the West Midlands, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire although I travel anywhere in the UK and sometimes even to Spain.
What I Do…
I write and deliver weddings, renewal of vows ceremonies, namings, funerals and memorial services that are not centred on my beliefs or preferences but completely about the people I’m working for. Ceremonies can include aspects of their religious beliefs such as hymns and prayers or be completely non-religious. Cultures and traditions can also be included.
“Thankyou for the best bloody day ever!” Sam and Brad
“Thank you so much for the service yesterday, it was beautiful-just what we wanted for him. You went above and beyond!”
I consider it a huge privilege to be invited in to hear people’s stories and work with them to create truly personalised services.
More About Me…
I live in North Birmingham with my locksmith husband and two grown-up sons. I began my working life as a classical singer but as time passed I began singing ballads, show songs, jazz and folk! This led to my performing in many different environments, including many weddings and funerals.
I also taught singing to people who had anxiety and confidence issues and created and ran a successful national wedding music agency supplying top professional musicians for weddings and corporate events. I also performed at funerals throughout the UK seeing many services that told me nothing about the person the service was for, until one day I met a lovely celebrant who told me about her work. I immediately knew that this was something I was very excited about, so I enrolled on a course.
Now at last I could do something that would really make a difference to people’s lives and use all my skills.
Over the last five years I have conducted 700+ ceremonies, gaining a great reputation which has led to much of my work now coming through word of mouth.
I like to put people at ease and helping people is where I get my kicks in life. I love to spread happiness, build confidence and have fun wherever possible. I believe in honesty with kindness, fairness and always saying “yes” wherever I can and supporting people.
In my spare time I enjoy doing creative things like cooking and bespoke commemorative decoupage like the candles which I use for unity ceremonies. I’m passionate about gardening and I also love swimming and would be off snowboarding or bungee jumping if it wasn’t for my pesky spinal injury (long story!)
In short, I love working with people from all walks of life and whatever I do I do to the very highest of standards with sensitivity and joy.
I trained as a celebrant in 2015 with Civil Ceremonies Ltd, achieving my Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy. Over the last two years I have completed a hypnotherapy and mindfulness course and been asked to conduct a number of weddings for families I’ve met along the way, so the natural progression was to complete a wedding celebrancy qualification with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy. I now have a real wealth of knowledge and am well equipped to cope with any kind of situation.
As a member of the AOIC I also have the reassurance of support and ongoing training through a network of fellow celebrants.
In addition to my celebrant services, I am also able to offer the following additional services to anyone who feels they may be helpful:
Mindfulness & HYPNOTHERAPY
I can offer relaxation recordings to reduce stress levels (free of charge), as well as sleep recordings to help achieve a better quality of rest. These recordings are specifically geared to grief and anxiety. For more information, visit the Mindfulness & Hypnotherapy page.
Having studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music and worked as a soloist for many years, I love to lead the hymns and songs at ceremonies if required. I am happy to sing with the resident organist or music system, but can also provide my own equipment and backing tracks where needed. For more information, visit the Singing Services page.
I make various commemorative decoupage products – such as candles, burners, lamps and urns – which provide an extra personal touch and keepsake. These are all made to order and charged accordingly. For examples of some of the pieces I have made in the past, see my product shop.
